Extended Biography

Real rock 'n roll is still out there. Prosevere proves it.

Rock n roll is just as much a lifestyle and an attitude as it is a brand of music. Whether experiencing the band live, or just meeting them at a bar, you can instantly tell their passion runs deep. Prosevere's hit-you-in-the-mouth assault grabs you by the senses in just the first few seconds.

Prosevere's roots were planted in October of 2006. Gary Segars(vocals) and Eric Ashe(guitar) were left in a difficult position when the bass player and drummer, in their previous group, left to start a new project with several shows still to be played on a regional tour. After numerous tryouts with some of the Mid-south's finest musicians, Rocky Griggs (drums) and Matt Riley (bass) proved to be the perfect fit to help finish the band's remaining tour schedule. Once the initial run of dates ended, the foursome realized that the group had taken on a new life. With this newfound energy, the band decided that a new beginning was necessary.

The name of the band was changed, and new songs were written; the old ones being put on the backburner to make room for new blood. The group started over from scratch, driven to once again earn respect from the ground up. A 2-song sampler was recorded in February of 2007 with Johnathan Treeby, formerly of the Neville Brothers, at JT Studios in Memphis, TN. The tracks were mastered at Euphonic Masters by Brad Blackwood, known for his work with ZZ Top, Saving Abel, Thursday, and many others. The songs grabbed instant airplay on several internet radio stations, along with the local station 93X WMFS. Other stations joined in giving the group some spins, including WZDQ in Jackson, TN, KJEZ in Poplar Bluff, MO, and WZLQ in Tupelo, MS. Regional touring began shortly thereafter, making stops in Jackson, MS, Tupelo, MS, Jackson, TN, Jonesboro, AR, Little Rock, AR, etc, performing with such artists as Saving Abel, Egypt Central, One Less Reason, Black Light Burns, the Vanished, and many others.

March 2008 was spent in the studio in Nashville with a new producer named Dan Martinie. 6 new songs were recorded, once again mastered by Brad Blackwood, and packaged with the two previously recorded, but re-mastered, songs. The EP was released under the name "Versus" on July 29th, 2008. The release of the album brought another round of touring with the same group of friends - Saving Abel, Egypt Central, One Less Reason, etc - along with some new faces - Sore Eyes, Allyria, Inner 61 and others. Consulting help was brought in by members of Shinedown and 12 Stones, and the group continued to build.

Social networking success continued to mount. Their myspace account continued to grow to a point that one person could not handle it all anymore. The band's ReverbNation account reached 1 on the regional charts, drawing more hits and plays than even Paramore and Saliva. The word was starting to spread, and the hype was growing.

In January of 2009, Prosevere was asked to play with 311, Korn, Shinedown, Hinder, Theory of a Deadman, and many others at the 2009 Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival. This brought on a whole new round of promotion from regional and national publications. The band played a killer set, in the rain, no-less, and won over a slew of new fans who have continued to help spread the word. Regional touring has commenced, and will continue through the rest of 2009. 2010 looks to see the four-piece enter the studio to record a new full length album. They'll keep building their following the same way they always have - grass roots promotion and an incredibly strong work ethic.

Prosevere is the van with no air-conditioner that travels from New Orleans, LA to Little Rock, AR in the middle of July to play yet another show. Prosevere is the unshaved beards, the dirty clothes, and the sweat covered road cases that go in and out of venues night after night for little more than the love of playing music. Prosevere is the handshakes between the band members and those that appreciate passion. Prosevere is motivation. Prosevere is dedication. Prosevere is rock 'n roll.
